RocDyn‑6 — WUHAN, CHINA — MAY 2027
Visa and Entry to China
The Sixth International Conference on Rock Dynamics and Applications
Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences
Travelling in May 2027? Check policy validity.
Some currently published unilateral visa waivers expire on 31 December 2026. Do not assume they will cover this conference. Recheck the official visa‑free guidance and your local Chinese mission before travelling.
1. Do I need a visa?
Requirements depend on your nationality, passport type, purpose of travel, itinerary and length of stay. Please confirm your individual circumstances with the Chinese embassy or consulate responsible for your place of residence.
Academic exchanges
An F visa is generally relevant to exchanges and visits, including academic exchanges. Confirm the appropriate category with the responsible visa authority, especially if your itinerary includes other activities.
Check your eligibility
A bilateral agreement or unilateral waiver may apply. Check the passport categories, permitted activities, stay limits and effective dates. Conference attendance can qualify under applicable waiver rules.
2. Invitation letter
The conference invitation letter supports your stated purpose of travel. It is separate from a visa application and does not guarantee visa approval or entry to China.
Prepare your name exactly as shown in your passport, affiliation, contact email, registration or abstract reference (if available), planned arrival and departure dates, cities to be visited and the party covering your expenses.
The issuing office may also need your date of birth, passport details and other particulars required by your visa authority. Provide sensitive information only through the verified channel announced by the Secretariat.
Invitation requests: submission channel to be announced. It is not a visa application or an issued invitation.
Invitation requests: submission channel to be announced. The preparation worksheet is for preparation only. No request is submitted on this page. The Secretariat’s verified contact details and submission instructions will be added when confirmed.
3. From planning to departure
Confirm the route that applies to you
Check whether you need a visa and identify the embassy, consulate or authorised application centre serving your place of residence.
Arrange your supporting documents
Prepare your conference invitation request and check the responsible office’s document list. Allow time for corrections and any additional requirements.
Use the official application channel
Follow that office’s current online application, appointment, passport submission and biometric instructions. Procedures vary by location.
Check your documents before departure
Review visa validity, number of entries and permitted duration of stay. Carry conference and itinerary documents relevant to your visit.
Start planning early. Submission windows, fees and processing times are set by the responsible visa authority; the conference cannot expedite or decide applications.
4. Your preparation checklist
Use this as a planning aid. The responsible embassy, consulate or visa centre’s current checklist takes precedence.
- Passport meeting the applicable validity and blank‑page requirements
- Completed application and photograph as required locally
- Conference invitation and purpose‑of‑visit information
- Planned travel dates and accommodation details
- Proof of legal residence, if required when applying abroad
- Any additional documents requested by the visa authority
5. A little more guidance
Is the invitation request a visa application?
Can I rely on a visa‑free policy announced for 2026?
Can I use a transit visa exemption to attend?
Does an invitation provide financial sponsorship?
What if the visa office asks for a different invitation?
Where can I find processing times and fees?
6. Official resources
Content reviewed: 13 October 2026. General F‑visa guidance was checked against the visa centre’s published guidance; local requirements differ. This conference page provides travel guidance, not an official immigration decision.
